I got this email from one of our friends in Idaho. Her name is Amy Lapp, and fortuitously, it was her camera-phone recording of "Oh Ellen" that originally caught the attention of The Ellen Show. Amy and her friend Kris won the award for Driving Farthest to Attend the CD Release Show, (Pocatello, ID to Tucson, AZ), and I appreciate not only her enthusiasm about our DVD and live show, but her generally positive outlook on music and friendship. Here's what she had to say after getting the official DVD video document of that incredibly fun night: ---------------------- Cameron, I just wanted to tell you that I just received and watched the new DVD and loved it! I started reminiscing about the roadtrip to Arizona that Kris and I took to see that show. It was a lot of fun, we saw some cool things, enjoyed the warmth and sunshine, and then concluded...
Read Morehe dynamic duo played a song they called a work-in-progress – “Start Somewhere” – that to them was a song about the birthplace of their collaboration (which began in Boston, MA after moving Tucson, AZ). For me, as I looked out at the diverse audience, “Start Somewhere” spoke to me about all personal life journeys, which are all “works-in-progress.”

Read MoreRyanhood rock CD Release show at Rialto Saturday 04/04/2009 11:59 AM Dan Shapiro The appellation Ryanhood comes from the melding of Cameron Hood and Ryan Green, who are putting out their third full length album, The World Awaits, and celebrating the release with a party at the Rialto Theater on April 4. Every ticket includes their CD so there’s no reason not to go. Hood had this to say about the event, “No, really, THIS is the most important show. YouHAVE to come to THIS one!” I remained skeptical until I recently heard the acoustic guitar duo, who sound like when Simon & Garfunkel met U2 in a park and The Edge taught Garfunkel to shred on guitar, while Nickel Creek drank coffee and rocked the bluegrass.” Below, NightBuzz caught up with Cameron Hood to ask a few questions pertaining to playing shows in Tucson, burning yourself out in Tucson and burning Tucson down with fiery guitar licks. AZNB: I was surprised to see...
Read More...THAT WE SHOULD KNOW? We've noticed some things: Record labels don't rule the roost like they once did, and fewer and fewer of us are listening to mainstream radio. The old system is on it's last legs, BUT people are listening to more music than ever... So, it's time to get creative! As we plan the release of our new CD "The World Awaits" we'd like your help in inventing creative ways to get this music to as many people as possible. So many of you have been expressing such overwhelming support for our songs, our sound, and our live shows, that we feel like it's time to give you the chance to speak to us, and for us; to help us become what so many of you have told us we could become. We want to know the best way to get the word out, and we'd like you to tell...
Read MoreBut mostly reggae. Since we just got finished with our tiny tour, and we are on the eve of re-entering the studio, it seems like the best time of all to write a little bloggy blog blog. First, a math question: If two trains are traveling towards each other at a speed of 130 km/hr, and train A contains Owen Plant, and train B contains Ryanhood, what is the most precise expression of the energy created by their collision? The answer is: One million awesomes. (Feel free to check the math on that. I was fortunate enough to get to sit in on a math class at MIT with my younger brother while I was in Boston, and even though it was mostly beyond me, it DID get me thinking.) So, the tour: Owen Plant. Man, oh man. This guy can SING. If you're lookin' for a boy with a voice… Each night we followed roughly...
